Healthy living doesn’t have to be hard.
Avoid UFO’s (unidentifiable food like objects), eat whole foods – mainly plants, make sure you drink enough water, jiggle, move or bend your body whenever you feel the urge (like dogs and cats do) and get enough sleep.
Sounds simple right, so why are so many of us struggling to get healthy for good?
Most approaches to healthy living dwell on the food. Calories, carbs, fat’s, proteins, boring lists of things that are ‘good’ or ‘bad’ and worse of all, restrictions.
However, there’s a wee problema.
Food is important of course, the food you eat makes up your skin, your hair, your cells and eventually your thoughts and your feelings.
But, no amount of green juice or kale is going to make you feel happy in a job you hate, fix the strained relationship you have with your next door neighbour (I know, the nine hundred and ninety nine gnomes on his front lawn make you feel like you’re being watched), or get up at 5.30am on Tuesday morning for your yoga class.
A healthy lifestyle is about way more than what’s on your plate.
Solid relationships, a job you love, regular exercise, a motorbike with a full tank of gas (it work’s for me) and a spiritual practice can satisfy your hunger for life, making what you eat secondary.
Before I was Emma the Health and Wellness Coach I was Emma the adventure travel company owner, before that I did lots of other things.
I grew up in a small village (600 people kind of small) in the U.K where I happily spent the first 16 years of my life before setting off with a rucksack, an open mind and a plane ticket to New Zealand.
Fifteen years and twenty plus countries later, an award winning adventure travel company company and an 8000 mile motorbike trip, brings us here.
After three businesses and a lifetime of traveling, there are two things I know to be true.
Having the support of a community or personal mentor is the difference between staying stuck, lost and overwhelmed to getting what you want and achieving your goals.
It’s really, really hard to ride a motorbike and eat an ice cream at the same time.
As a health coach, I put the power back in your hands.
I have a no-fluff-just-the-good-stuff approach to health, wellness and life in general so, we’ll be keeping it simple and real around here, I would love you to be part of the journey.
